International Conference for Young Quantum Information Scientists

The third edition of the international conference for Young Quantum Information Scientists (YQIS) will be held in Erlangen, Germany. The YQIS provides a stage for young researchers (PhD students and Post-Docs) to give insight into their cutting-edge research and to strengthen their ties to the quantum information community.

The talks given by young researchers are complemented by keynote presentations by invited speakers from academia and industry.

About YQIS

Quantum information, a branch of the revolutionary theory of quantum physics, has been developing rapidly since a few decades, now is a broad research field and allowed the appearance of quantum technologies 2.0. It has been and will be a source of significant scientific and technological progress. The quantum information community stands out for its cross-disciplinary nature, bringing together physicists, mathematicians, chemists and computer scientists. In this context, it is of utmost importance to also permit young research fellows to benefit from conferences, in order to communicate on their research topic and exchange with others.

The International Conference for “Young Quantum Information Scientists” (YQIS) is made by young researchers for young researchers (doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows). YQIS topics are broadband and cover both the theoretical and experimental sides, ranging from the very foundations of quantum information to applied quantum systems, e.g., quantum foundations, quantum correlations and networks, condensed matter and many-body systems, quantum thermodynamics and open systems, quantum metrology, quantum communication and cryptography, quantum simulation and computation, and technologies for quantum information processing.

The first edition of YQIS was held at the Institute d'Optique Graduate School in Palaiseau, France. The 109 participating young researchers, from all over the world, contributed 22 talks, 86 posters and made this edition a great success. The second edition of YQIS took place in the Mediterranean city of Barcelona, Spain and was organized by young researchers from the ICFO. The number of participants grew to 160 (27 contributed talks, over 140 posters), showing increasing demand for the YQIS. Following this successful start, the third edition of the YQIS will be held in Erlangen, Germany. The conference is organized by doctoral students at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light.
